Papendorp
Situated on the Olifants River estuary, the small settlement of Papendorp derive their main income from fishing in the estuary.
With future recognition as a RAMSAR site the wetlands of the estuary are an important habitat for migratory birds an important breeding area.
Locals process salt from the nearby salt pan by way of traditional salt harvesting methods. Fishing nets are still made by hand and visitors to this quaint little settlement can experience the taste of home made "bokkoms" (salted, sun dried fish) - traditional to the Cape West Coast.|
